MG-2P steel bronze powder with PVDF/PTFE marginal bearing is a high-performance, lead-free polymer bearing engineered for applications demanding superior chemical resistance and stable low-friction performance. It consists of a low-carbon steel backing, a sintered porous bronze powder interlayer, and a PVDF/PTFE (polyvinylidene fluoride/polytetrafluoroethylene) polymer composite surface layer. This unique material combination provides excellent chemical inertness to aggressive media, low and stable friction, good load capacity, and reliable operation even under marginal or infrequent lubrication conditions. In particular, the PVDF component offers enhanced mechanical strength and dimensional stability compared to unfilled PTFE, while PTFE provides inherent low friction and high-temperature performance, resulting in a balanced composite that is widely used across metallurgy, mining, chemical processing, automotive, agricultural machinery, and water conservancy applications.

◆ Features

Suitable for dry running, boundary lubrication, or marginal lubrication conditions with low coefficient of friction, low wear rate, and excellent sliding characteristics. The PVDF/PTFE composite layer offers improved mechanical strength and dimensional stability over unfilled PTFE, making it suitable for high-load applications where conventional PTFE-only bearings may deform.

The lead-free construction eliminates hazardous lead from the formulation, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations such as RoHS and making the bearing safe for food processing machinery, medical equipment, and other environmentally sensitive applications. The bearing operates effectively under rotating, oscillating, or linear movements, and can accommodate intermittent or inconsistent lubrication schedules.

Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, solvents, and aggressive chemicals, including exposure to pH 1–14 media, is provided by the PVDF component. The bearing also exhibits good anti-corrosion performance, low moisture absorption, and stable properties across a wide temperature range, ensuring long service life in harsh chemical or humid environments.

◆ Material Structure:

1. PVDF/PTFE polymer composite (working surface) – 0.01–0.03mm. The composite layer provides a low-friction, wear-resistant running surface with enhanced mechanical strength and chemical resistance.

2. Sintered bronze powder – 0.2–0.35mm. Spherical bronze particles (typically 80–90% copper with tin) are sintered onto the steel backing to form a porous structural layer. This layer provides strong bonding between the steel and the polymer, acts as a thermal bridge to dissipate frictional heat, and serves as a reservoir for the polymer composite.

3. Steel backing (low-carbon steel) – 0.7–2.3mm (thickness tailored to application requirements). The steel backing provides high mechanical strength, excellent dimensional stability, and reliable press-fit capability.

4. Plated coating – Tin plating 0.005mm or copper plating 0.008mm on the outer diameter for corrosion resistance, improved press-fit performance, and enhanced environmental durability.

◆ Application Areas

MG-2P is engineered for demanding environments where chemical resistance, environmental compliance, and reliable performance under marginal lubrication are critical, including:

● Metallurgical machinery and steel processing equipment

● Mining machinery, conveyors, and heavy construction equipment

● Chemical processing pumps, agitators, and mixers – the PVDF/PTFE composite offers excellent chemical inertness to aggressive media.

● Automotive steering systems, suspension components, and lead-free bearing applications

● Agricultural machinery, hydraulic cylinders, and water conservancy equipment

● Food processing machinery and medical equipment – fully lead-free (RoHS compliant) for hygienic safety.

● Packaging machinery, printing presses, and other industrial automation equipment requiring low maintenance and consistent friction.

Available in standard forms including cylindrical bushings, flanged bushings, thrust washers, wear plates, and custom shapes per customer specifications.

◆ Assembly and Operation Notes

The bearing is designed for press-fit installation into a properly sized housing bore with surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 µm. While the PVDF/PTFE composite layer provides self-lubricating properties, initial lubrication at assembly is recommended for optimal running-in and extended service life. The bearing operates effectively under dry, boundary, or oil/grease lubricated conditions. For applications with continuous high-speed operation or elevated temperatures, periodic lubrication can significantly extend working life. The bearing is suitable for linear, oscillating, and rotating movements under high loads and low to moderate speeds. Avoid sharp edges on mating shafts to prevent damage to the polymer surface.
